Pay by link: get paid without a card machine

Pay by link means sending a customer a secure payment link by text, email or WhatsApp. They pay by card on their phone and you get paid without a terminal.

How pay by link works

  1. You create a payment request in your provider's app, with the amount and a short description.
  2. You send the link by text, email or WhatsApp.
  3. The customer opens it on their phone and pays by card or phone wallet.
  4. The money lands in the same account as your card machine takings.

Who it suits

  • Trades taking a deposit before starting a job
  • Hotels and B&Bs taking a booking deposit
  • Takeaways taking payment for phone orders
  • Caterers and event businesses invoicing in advance
  • Anyone who gets paid without the customer in front of them

Why not just take the card number?

Writing card details down or keying them in from a phone call puts you at risk and makes data security harder. With a payment link, the customer pays on the provider's secure page and you never see their card.

All four of my partners offer payment links or something similar. I'll set it up alongside your card machine, or on its own if you don't need a terminal.
